FSB Director: 6 terrorist attacks committed in the North Caucasus in 2024
This year, 6 terrorist attacks have been committed in the North Caucasus Federal District, 23 terrorist crimes have been prevented. More than 200 people have been detained. This was stated at a meeting of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) by its chairman, Director of the FSB of the Russian Federation Alexander Bortnikov.

He emphasized that international terrorist organizations are increasing their propaganda influence on the population of the North Caucasus using the religious factor.

“The task of the Russian authorities is to prevent the penetration of radical ideological attitudes into the North Caucasus and to ensure the preservation and strengthening of the all-Russian civic identity of local youth on the basis of traditional spiritual, moral, cultural and historical values,” Bortnikov noted.

Recently, the FSB Director, speaking at a meeting of the Council of Heads of CIS Security Agencies in Astana, stated that in exchange for preferential arms supplies and security guarantees, the West is seeking the Armenian government's withdrawal from the CSTO. According to him, the West is pushing Yerevan to delay negotiations with Azerbaijan in order to lead the process of Azerbaijani-Armenian settlement and achieve the deployment of NATO contingents in the South Caucasus.
