The Don and Kuban regions were once again targeted by UAVs; strikes against Ukraine were also launched from these areas
On the morning of September 21, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian air defense forces had destroyed 244 UAVs overnight. The drones were shot down over 19 Russian regions—including the Rostov and Krasnodar regions and the Republic of Adygea—as well as over the Black Sea.
The Rostov region was subjected to a massive drone attack. There have been no reports of casualties or damage. Drones were launched from Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk to strike Ukraine.
Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar wrote on his Telegram channel that "about 50 UAVs were destroyed" in the region across six districts: Verkhnedonskoy, Chertkovsky, Millerovsky, Krasnosulinsky, Sholokhovsky, and Tarasovsky.
"No information regarding casualties or damage on the ground has been received. Details are being clarified," the regional head added.
Authorities in the Kuban, Adygea, and Volgograd regions did not report any consequences of the attack. However, it is known that operations at the airports in Volgograd, Gelendzhik, and Sochi were suspended.
Meanwhile, Kyiv claims that Russian forces launched 172 drones at Ukrainian territory, with some originating from Millerovo in the Rostov region and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Krasnodar region. There are reported casualties in Ukraine.
