George W. Bush concerned about Kremlin influence on democracy in Georgia and Saakashvili's health

The participants of the international conference "Defeating Putinism" taking place in Tbilisi were read the address of the American President of 2001-2009, George W. Bush. This is reported by "Echo of the Caucasus".

The letter says that the attention of the entire world community is now riveted to Ukraine. The former US president claims that the outcome of the war will have a huge impact on the development of democracy around the world, including in Georgia. "A victory in Ukraine could also pave the way for the end of Russian occupation of 20% of your country, 15 years after Putin's invasion," Bush said.

The author of the letter positively noted the state's policy towards its participation in the Transatlantic Democratic Community, in particular membership in NATO and the European Union, but expressed doubts about the "commitment of the Georgian government to democratic values." “It breaks my heart to see how your third president, whom I knew personally, is being treated in prison,” said George W. Bush.
The 43rd President of the United States expressed concern about pro-Russian sentiment in Georgia and the fact that the Kremlin's influence extends to the country's support for the Ukrainian people.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also voiced the opinion that the defeat of Russia in the war would entail the restoration of the territorial integrity of Georgia and Moldova.

It is noteworthy that not a single representative of the ruling Georgian Dream party was present at the conference in Tbilisi. The ruling team ignores the forum for the second year in a row. This is reported by the news agency EADaily.
