Former Mayor of Ingushetia's Capital Extends Arrest by Two Months
The Magas District Court extended Usman Aushev's detention by two months. The former mayor of Ingushetia has been in pretrial detention for four months already.

Aushev was the head of Magas from June 2020 to February 2023. In May 2024, he was put on the wanted list, and in September, he was detained in Grozny.

According to investigators, in January-February 2023, Aushev approved inflated estimates when concluding a contract for the repair and replacement of power supply networks in the capital of Ingushetia. The damage to the city budget was estimated at 1.9 million rubles. Soon after, Aushev resigned and left the republic.

A criminal case was opened under two articles - abuse of power and fraud. Initially, the fact of theft of almost 2 million rubles of budget funds was revealed, but it turned out that this was only one episode of the case.

In September 2022, Aushev was brought to administrative responsibility for violating the contract system in the procurement sphere. He was fined 400 thousand rubles.
