Berlin has recalled its ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, for consultations. The decision, made by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadepoel, is intended to determine how to proceed, the ministry announced.

The Supreme Court of Ingushetia toughened the sentence of police officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Amiran Merzhoev for beating a disabled pensioner. Instead of four years of suspended imprisonment, the defendant was sentenced to two years in a penal colony.
A criminal case was opened after security forces in Magas detained local resident Timur Derbichev on suspicion of illegal drug possession in January 2022. At the department, Merzhoev approached the detainee and demanded to kneel, and after refusing, he beat Derbichev.
