Berlin has recalled its ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, for consultations. The decision, made by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadepoel, is intended to determine how to proceed, the ministry announced.

The European Court of Human Rights ordered the Russian authorities to pay compensation in the amount of 26 and 20 thousand euros. They are intended for the relatives of the murdered Dagestani journalists Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev and Khadzhimurad Kamalov.
The ECHR recognized the authorities' failure to protect the lives of journalists and the ineffectiveness of the investigation into the circumstances of their deaths.
Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev was killed on July 9, 2013 in the suburbs of Makhachkala. The criminal investigation into the murder has now been suspended. It was suspended 8 times, and each time it was necessary to seek continuation of the investigation through the courts.
On December 15, 2011, the founder of the Chernovik newspaper, Khadzhimurad Kamalov, was killed. He was shot in Makhachkala on the threshold of the editorial office. In 2022, the Southern District Military Court sentenced the accused. Former Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan Shamil Isaev, who is believed to have ordered the crime, received 16 years in prison, the alleged perpetrators Murad Shuaibov - 23 years, Magomed Khazamov - 24 years and Magomed Abigasanov - 16 years. The investigation considered that Shamil Isaev decided to kill Khadzhimurad Kamalov because he was preventing him from making a political career with his publications.
The brother of the deceased, Magdi Kamalov, is convinced that everyone except Abigasanov has nothing to do with the murder. The latter was the only one of the accused who knew Khadzhimurad by sight and was present at his place of work on the fateful day. In addition, defense witnesses reported alibis for the alleged perpetrators.
