Georgia has asked Luxembourg to facilitate the resumption of dialogue with the EU. Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations and a member of the ruling Georgian Dream party, announced this following a visit to Luxembourg.
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ordered the Russian authorities to pay one thousand euros each to Zelimkhan Dudayev, Said Asadullaev and Umar Baysiev. Natives of Chechnya were subjected to inhumane treatment during their transfer to places of detention.
The ECHR resolution stated that the victims did not have access to amenities during transportation, the compartments in the cars were overcrowded, and there was not enough fresh air. The court awarded each one a thousand euros as compensation.
Also the basis for complaints was the lack of effective legal remedies in Russian legislation for prisoners subjected to such treatment.
Let us recall that in June 2022, the Russian authorities refused to implement the decisions of the ECHR. In September of the same year, Russia ceased to be a party to the European Convention on Human Rights.
