Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that during the 44-day war in Karabakh, an information campaign was launched against Azerbaijan with the aim of accusing Ankara of supporting Baku. He emphasized that these accusations relied on the rhetoric of Ankara's opponents and spread false information about Turkish arms supplies to Azerbaijan.
The European Court of Human Rights awarded 26 thousand euros in compensation to activist from Nalchik Aslan Iritov. A disabled person without both arms was sentenced to two years of suspended imprisonment in 2021 for an “attack” on security forces.
In October 2017, the head of the “Free Village” organization, Aslan Iritov, submitted a notification to the Nalchik administration about a rally over the land issue. The activist was refused, and then police officers appeared in the yard of his house. They beat him, as well as his brother, wife and daughter. The ECHR also ordered all three to pay 26 thousand euros. As a result of the quarrel, a disabled person without both arms allegedly hit the deputy head of the Center for Special Execution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Kabardino-Balkaria, Khamidbi Gubashiev, and tried to hit his colleagues.
The victims and most of the prosecution witnesses questioned in court were unable to clearly describe where, when and how Iritov hit Gubashiev. Also, the courts of first and second instance denied the defense a number of important requests.
Russia must pay money to victims based on the decisions of the ECHR. However, after being expelled from the Council of Europe, Moscow does not implement decisions made later than March 15, 2022.
