European Ambassadors Approve Extension of Mission on Armenian-Azerbaijani Border
Ambassadors of the EU countries have approved the extension of the observation mission in Armenia. The observers will remain in the country's border areas until February 19, 2027. It is expected that the extension of the mission will help reduce the number of incidents on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and contribute to the settlement of relations between Yerevan and Baku.

News.Armenia reports that the composition and number of members of the mission will remain unchanged: 165 foreign and 44 Armenian observers. The decision to extend their service must be approved by the foreign ministers of the EU member states in the near future.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed a negative attitude towards the EU mission in Armenia.

"This is a foreign body for the South Caucasus region. If the mission is so stubbornly focused on stability, then why is the decision to extend its mandate not taking into account the opinion of a regional player who is vitally interested in improving the situation?” said Maria Zakharova, a representative of the Russian diplomatic department, indignantly.
