Chechen Interior Minister Promoted
Chechnya's Interior Minister Aslan Iraskhanov has been promoted to the rank of police lieutenant general. This follows from a decree by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

48-year-old Iraskhanov has headed the Chechen Interior Ministry since November 2023, having previously served as deputy minister of the department.

According to an investigation by Novaya Gazeta, Iraskhanov participated in an extrajudicial execution in Grozny in 2017. In January of that year, police and military personnel carried out two "counter-terrorism operations" during which about 200 people were detained and tortured, 27 of whom were shot. This happened while Iraskhanov was serving as commander of the Akhmat Kadyrov Patrol and Guard Service Regiment. For this reason, the United States imposed sanctions on the police officer in 2019.

Recently, by decree of Putin, the deputy head of the main military-political department of the Russian Armed Forces, commander of the Chechen unit "Akhmat" Apti Alaudinov received the rank of lieutenant general.
