The WSJ recalls that in 2012, the Trump Organization announced plans to implement a project in Batumi, but subsequently abandoned it, along with several other international initiatives. Mikheil Saakashvili and Donald Trump attended the presentation of the Batumi project, which was to be implemented by the Silk Road Group. After the project's collapse, billionaire and founder of Georgian Dream, Bidzina Ivanishvili, stated that Trump had not invested in Georgia and that the project itself was a "stunt" involving Saakashvili and Trump, who received unspecified funds.
