Chronicle of the Russian-Ukrainian war (July-August 2023)

August 8

The death of the former chef of the Russian president, who later became the owner and head of a private military company of mercenaries operating in various countries, has become overgrown with many legends and conspiracy theories. However, most experts and observers are convinced that the former head of the PMC signed his own death warrant the moment he decided to start an armed rebellion: according to the rules by which the current military-political elite is organized and exists, Prigozhin left his patron no choice but to deal with him as a demonstration and as a lesson to others. Because, as many believe, any encroachment on the Russian throne or other actions that could cast doubt on the authority of the person sitting on it are subject to severe punishment.
