Azerbaijan celebrates 34 years since its restoration of independence

Today, Azerbaijan celebrates the 34th anniversary of its restoration of state independence. On August 30, 1991, the Supreme Council of the Republic adopted the Declaration on the Restoration of Independence, and on October 18 of the same year, the Constitutional Act enshrining this status was adopted.

Until 2021, October 18 was celebrated as State Independence Day. However, following legislative changes, this date became known as the Day of Restoration of State Independence, while Independence Day is celebrated on May 28 (formerly known as Republic Day).
