Rockfalls block roads in Dagestan and Ingushetia

Roads to several villages and tourist sites in Dagestan and Ingushetia have been closed due to rockfalls and landslides.

In recent weeks, the region has already recorded the effects of heavy rainfall and waterlogging in four villages: Ashty, Dirbakmakhi, Kunki, and Khuduts. The rockfall occurred at the 19th kilometer of the road to the village of Kunki. Traffic on this section has been temporarily suspended, while road crews are clearing the road and attempting to restore access.

Republican authorities warn that the risk of further landslides, rockfalls, and mudflows remains in mountainous areas. In recent weeks, the region has already recorded the effects of heavy rainfall and waterlogging, with roads and infrastructure damaged in several districts.

A similar situation has developed in Ingushetia. In the Dzheyrakh district, a landslide blocked a section of the road leading to the Armkhi resort. A bypass route has been established, and emergency equipment is working on the site, clearing the road and stabilizing the slopes.

According to local authorities, there is no threat to residents or tourists. However, rescue services warn that the risk of further landslides and avalanches remains high in the mountainous region of the North Caucasus.
