The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern over Armenia's rapprochement with the European Union. In an interview with TASS, Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department of European Problems, stated that this could negatively impact relations with Russia and integration processes in the post-Soviet space.
The Kazakh Prosecutor General's Office has approved the extradition of Chechen activist Mansur Movlayev to Russia, despite the risk of torture in his home country. This was announced by human rights activist Murat Adam, who noted that the deportation decision must be implemented within 30 days.
Movlayev was previously denied asylum in Kazakhstan, a decision that is currently being appealed. A support group for the activist called the extradition decision illegal, stating that there is a 100% chance he will be killed in Russia and expressing distrust of Russian authorities' guarantees that he will not be tortured.
In Russia, Mansur Movlayev is accused of financing extremism; however, according to the Chechen opposition movement "Adat," the case was fabricated by security forces. Mansur Movlaev had previously served time in a Russian prison colony on drug trafficking charges, which he claimed were fabricated due to his political activities. According to the 1ADAT channel, after his release in 2022, he was kidnapped and tortured, and in 2023, he managed to illegally enter Kyrgyzstan without documents. In October of that year, a Bishkek court sentenced Movlaev to six months in prison followed by deportation for illegally crossing the Kyrgyz border. On November 20, he was released from prison and left Kyrgyzstan. Furthermore, in October 2024, Mansur Movlaev reported the abduction of his relatives by Chechen security forces.
In May 2025, Movlaev was detained in Kazakhstan at the request of Russia.
