According to Kremlin media, including RBC, prominent businessman and former senator from Chechnya, 67-year-old Umar Dzhabrailov died by suicide in a hotel on Tverskaya Street in Moscow. A pistol was found near his body.
RIA Novosti analysts presented an estimate of consumer demand in Russia for 2025. The figures were calculated by combining retail turnover, food service turnover, and the volume of paid services.
The Chukotka Autonomous Okrug led the way in growth, with growth of 13.9%. Magadan Oblast followed with a 10.1% increase. In Udmurtia and Kabardino-Balkaria, which ranked third and fourth, respectively, demand jumped by 9.2% and 8.92%. In these regions, strong growth in trade and food service played a significant role, driving per capita spending in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic to 43,700 rubles.
Among other regions of the North Caucasus, the following growth rates of demand were observed: Karachay-Cherkessia - 5.78%, Ingushetia - 4.98%, North Ossetia - 4.33%, Stavropol Krai - 3.88%, and Chechnya - 3.19%. Dagestan was the least dynamic region in the North Caucasus Federal District, ranking 71st in the national ranking. Average monthly expenses of residents in the republic amounted to 35,300 rubles, while demand growth was only 0.98%.
Nationwide, consumer demand in 2025 increased by 2.93%, significantly slower than last year's growth.
