Ukraine thanked Azerbaijan for supplying equipment necessary for the operation of the country's energy system during the war. The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported this on the social network X.
The department noted that since the beginning of 2026, energy equipment has been transferred to Ukraine not only by EU countries, but also by Azerbaijan, the USA, Canada, Turkey, Japan and other partners.
In total, since March 2022, under the coordination of the Ministry of Energy, Ukraine has received 2,542 humanitarian supplies with energy equipment. Their total weight exceeded 32.3 thousand tons. Of these, more than 28.9 thousand tons have already been distributed among the regions of the country.
“We are deeply grateful to all our partners for their assistance in maintaining the operation of Ukraine’s energy system,” the Ministry of Energy said.
Azerbaijan has been helping the Ukrainian energy sector since the first months of a full-scale war. In January 2026, the country sent another batch of equipment worth about $1 million: 11 generators, five transformers, 12 low-voltage panels and 27 thousand meters of cable and wires.
Baku transferred another large shipment to Ukraine in August–September 2025. It included generators, transformer equipment and tens of thousands of meters of cable. At the same time, Azerbaijan allocated $2 million for the purchase of energy equipment produced in the country for Ukraine.
Azerbaijan's assistance to Ukraine is not limited to energy. Baku also participates in humanitarian programs and also supports the restoration of damaged Ukrainian cities. In particular, Azerbaijan accepts children from Mariupol for rehabilitation: another group of more than 30 children went to the country in June.
Separately, the Ukrainian side noted Azerbaijan’s contribution to the restoration of Irpen. In August, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Yuri Gusev gave Ilham Aliyev a certificate of honorary citizen of the city. This title was awarded to the President of Azerbaijan by the Irpen City Council on April 30, 2026.
In January 2026, the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan reported that the total cost of humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, including support for recovery and reconstruction, had already exceeded $45 million.
