Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that during the 44-day war in Karabakh, an information campaign was launched against Azerbaijan with the aim of accusing Ankara of supporting Baku. He emphasized that these accusations relied on the rhetoric of Ankara's opponents and spread false information about Turkish arms supplies to Azerbaijan.
27-year-old native of Chechnya Mansur Movlaev appealed to the authorities of Kyrgyzstan with a request to grant him refugee status. He is currently in the country's temporary detention center.
In August, at Manas International Airport, employees of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan detained Mansur Movlaev. Previously, he was put on the federal wanted list in Russia in connection with the financing of extremism. “He spoke out against human rights violations and political repression in Chechnya. In his statements and publications, the activist raised issues of violation of freedom of speech, arbitrariness of law enforcement agencies and other problems in the region. He was tortured in the Russian Federation,” noted human rights activist Tolekan Ismailova.
In 2020, Mansur Movlaev was sentenced to three years in prison on charges of financing extremism. His supporters say the case against him was fabricated. In 2022, the man was released on parole, but he was detained by security forces in Chechnya. Movlaev escaped and was able to reach Kyrgyzstan illegally.
