Crimea and the Rostov Region were attacked: houses and a kindergarten were damaged in Sevastopol, and more than 70 drones were shot down over the Don
On the night of August 28, Russia was hit by a large-scale drone attack. Occupied Crimea and the Rostov Region were among the key attack areas.
Mikhail Razvozhaev, head of the Russian administration in Sevastopol, reported that one of the drones was loaded with shrapnel. A five-story residential building sustained the most serious damage. A fire broke out in the building, but was subsequently extinguished. The blast wave shattered windows and frames, damaged balconies, walls, and residents' belongings, and rescuers began clearing the rubble in the worst-damaged apartment.
Four people were injured in the attack. An elderly woman suffered a closed head injury, according to preliminary reports, and a man was wounded in the back by shrapnel. Two others received minor injuries and refused hospitalization. According to local authorities, there are no casualties.
A temporary shelter has been set up for residents of the damaged building at a nearby kindergarten, where families with children have also been sent.
Two buildings of another kindergarten were also damaged. According to Razvozhaev, they were damaged by the blast wave. The facility had recently been repaired and was scheduled to reopen on September 1. Additionally, 15 cars were damaged in the city.
This morning, Rostov Region authorities also reported a massive drone attack. Governor Yuri Slyusar stated that air defense forces destroyed more than 70 drones in the Chertkovsky, Sholokhovsky, Millerovsky, Kamensky, Azovsky, Verkhnedonsky, and Kasharsky districts.
In Novoselovka, dry grass caught fire after the attack, and in Chebotovka, a mown field caught fire. According to authorities, there are no casualties in the region.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 512 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight. The drones were reportedly shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Vladimir, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, Penza, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, Tambov, Tula, and Yaroslavl regions, the Moscow region, the Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, and the Black Sea.
