A disabled Crimean Tatar political prisoner cannot change his eye implant in a colony

Crimean Tatar journalist Timur Ibragimov, sentenced to 17 years, needs an eye implant replaced. The man has a third group disability. He had already complained of deteriorating vision in colony No. 5 in the village of Klekotki, Ryazan region.

An ophthalmologist who came for the first time in a year and a half noted that the implant needed to be replaced. However, given the prisoner’s situation, he recommended taking medication.

In 2020, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Timur Ibragimov to 17 years in a maximum security colony. He was found guilty under the article on organizing the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). The Islamic party “Hizb ut-Tahrir” appeared as such, which is banned in the Russian Federation, but at the same time operates absolutely legally in Ukraine and other countries of the world.

The Memorial Human Rights Center recognized the convict as a political prisoner.
