Crimean Tatar political prisoner spent three months in a punishment cell

Timur Yalkabov, a Crimean Tatar political prisoner sentenced to 17 years, was returned to a cell in a Dimitrovgrad prison after three months in a punishment cell. Due to severe pain in his knees, he is forced to pray while sitting.

The political prisoner lost 25 kg. Timur Yalkabov suffers from chronic asthma, but the administration of the Russian prison did not consider this a contraindication for placement in a punishment cell.

In 2022, Yalkabov was sentenced to 17 years in prison. He was found guilty of participating in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir, banned in the Russian Federation. On the territory of Ukraine and most countries of the world, the organization operates without restrictions at the level of national legislation.
