The body of Abakar Abakarov, the former co-founder of the Russian Congress of the Peoples of the Caucasus and the alleged owner of the "Utro Dagestan" Telegram channel, was found in a rented villa in Istanbul. Media reports indicate the cause of death was stab wounds, although this information has not yet been officially confirmed.

Crimean Tatar Vladlen Abdulkadyrov, sentenced to 12 years, complained of deteriorating health in prison No. 2 in Yelets, Lipetsk region. During the meeting, he told his wife that while still in the pre-trial detention center, he began to have back pain, which intensified after the detention.

In May 2022, Abdulkadyrov and four other Crimean Tatars - Tofik Abdulgaziev, Izzet Abdullaev, Medzhit Abdurakhmanov and Bilyal Adilov - were found guilty under articles of participation in the activities of a terrorist organization and preparation for a violent change of power. Under these articles, Crimean Tatars are being tried in Crimea for membership in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir, banned in the Russian Federation, but legally operating in Ukraine, Europe and the world.
