European Union Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas stated that the Georgian government's current policies are not aligned with the European Union's direction. Arriving at the EU summit in Brussels, she emphasized the EU's support for the Georgian people but expressed disagreement with the Georgian government's actions. Kallas stated that the country's leadership is leading Georgia "in the wrong direction," which is hindering the process of European integration.
Crimean Tatar, Master of Islamic Sciences Vadim Bektemirov, sentenced to 11 years, was beaten by employees of IK-6 of St. Petersburg. They also took away his Koran and medicine. This was reported by his wife Lemara Bektemirova. The victim was able to call a payphone only after he was released from quarantine.
“Now his health is satisfactory. They give him prayer to read. I worked at a machine in the production of food bags,” Vadim’s wife shared.
Previously, Bektemirov was transferred from prison in Yelets (Lipetsk region). The family of the political prisoner did not receive any news about him for more than a month and did not know where he was.
Vadim Bektemirov – Master’s degree in “Islamic teachings” at the Faculty of Arabic Literature and Humanities. Before his arrest, he held prayers in support of the families of political prisoners and organized assistance to arrested Crimean Tatars.
Bektemirov was accused of activities of the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned in Russia. On the territory of Ukraine and most countries of the world, the organization operates without restrictions at the level of national legislation.
