Crimean Tatar political prisoner placed in punishment cell again

Enver Seitosmanov, serving a 17-year sentence in Correctional Colony No. 16 (Salavat, Bashkortostan) on charges of involvement in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, was placed in a punishment cell (SHIZO). The Crimean Tatar complains of a toothache, but overall his health is assessed as satisfactory.

Seitosmanov was convicted in December 2019 under the article on managing the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and delivered to Correctional Colony No. 16 in 2020. He had previously been repeatedly placed in a punishment cell in this colony.

Enver Seitosmanov's brother, Enres, was also convicted in the case of the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir. In May 2023, he was sentenced to 18 years in a maximum security prison. The appeal court reduced the charge by replacing the article on organizing the activities of a terrorist organization with an article on participation, which reduced the sentence to 17.5 years.
