Crimean Tatar political prisoner-journalist was transferred to a Russian prison

Crimean Tatar political prisoner and journalist Remzi Bekirov was transferred to Prison No. 2 of Yeniseisk, Krasnoyarsk Territory. In it, he must spend five years, and the remaining period - in a strict regime colony. In total - 19 years.

Remzi Bekirov is a citizen journalist, an activist of the Crimean Solidarity, a correspondent for the online publication Grani.ru. The Crimean Tatar has three minor children. After 2014, he covered the repression on the peninsula.

In 2022, Bekirov was sentenced to 19 years in prison on charges of involvement with the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir. It is recognized as terrorist in Russia, but at the same time it functions absolutely legally in Ukraine, European countries and the world.
