Crimean Tatar journalist sent to pre-trial detention center

The Kiev District Court of Simferopol arrested until May 4 the citizen journalist of Crimean Solidarity Rustem Osmanov. He is accused of involvement in a terrorist organization (Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code).

The day before, in the house of a Crimean Tatar, as well as at nine other addresses in Bakhchisaray and the Dzhankoy district of Crimea. security forces conducted searches. They looked for banned literature from activists.

Criminal cases are being initiated against Crimean Tatars en masse, most often for participation in a political party in Hizb ut-Tahrir. It is recognized as terrorist in Russia, but at the same time it operates legally in Ukraine, European countries and the world.
