Crimean Tatar political prisoner diagnosed with lymph node tuberculosis
The health of Crimean Tatar Tofik Abdulgaziyev has deteriorated due to the conditions of detention in Prison Hospital No. 3 in Chelyabinsk. He was previously diagnosed with lung lesions, and now he has been diagnosed with lymph node tuberculosis.

According to Abdulgaziyev's wife, he is being held in a punishment cell at the hospital. The cell is constantly damp, which is contraindicated for tuberculosis.

In 2024, a court in the Chelyabinsk region rejected the defense's motion to release the prisoner due to health reasons. The lawyers presented evidence to the court that the disease was progressing. In the conditions of the prison hospital, the political prisoner cannot receive the necessary treatment. The disease itself is on the list of conditions that impede serving a sentence.

The Crimean Solidarity activist, Crimean Tatar Tofik Abdulgaziyev, was sent to custody on March 27, 2019. In May 2022, the Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced him to 12 years in prison. He, like hundreds of other Crimean Tatars, was accused of participating in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is recognized as terrorist in the Russian Federation. However, the case materials do not contain any information about planning or carrying out terrorist attacks, or calls for them.
