The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has published a report alleging that Georgian authorities used chemical weapons during the suppression of pro-European protests in Tbilisi in 2024. The chemical weapon in question is bromobenzyl cyanide, a chemical warfare agent dating back to World War I, also known as "kamit."
Today, during a visit to Azerbaijan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that he leaves the latest statements of Armenian Prime Minister Nikola Pashinyan entirely on his conscience. The latter said earlier that Russia’s military presence in Armenia "not only does not guarantee security, but also poses a threat to the republic".
Also recently, Nikol Pashinyan at a meeting with EU representative Toivo Klaar said that the activities of the EU civilian mission in Armenia "will contribute to stability and peace in the region".
In response, Lavrov noted at a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart that Moscow is ready to help achieve a peace agreement between Baku and Yerevan. In addition, Russia will assist in consultations on the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
