Russia does not intend to comply with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruling requiring Georgian citizens to pay over 250 million euros, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated. When asked about the possibility of improving Russian-Georgian relations if the payment were made, Peskov noted that the Kremlin views this issue as a separate matter.

The Investigative Committee for Chechnya has overturned the decision to allow Eset Umarova to familiarize herself with the case of the disappearance of her son Movsar Umarov. He was allegedly kidnapped by security forces.
Recall that in July 2020, Movsar Umarov, a restaurant employee in Grozny, was detained by security forces and taken away in an unknown direction. Subsequently, he told his relatives by phone that he was being interrogated in connection with watching videos of opposition blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov. After some time, the man disappeared, and his relatives were told that he had escaped during the investigation. Movsar's family believes that he was killed.
Four years after Umarov's mysterious disappearance, there is not a single suspect. The criminal case has never reached court.
At the end of 2023, the European Court ordered the Russian authorities to pay compensation to Movsar Umarov's relatives. The ECHR found violations of several articles of the Convention on Human Rights: there was a forced abduction, unlawful detention, ill-treatment of his brother, inadequate investigation and psychological suffering of his relatives.
