A month off duty means six years in prison: a court sentences a soldier from Ingushetia

The Nalchik Garrison Military Court sentenced Private Bai-Ali Barakhoev to six years in prison. He was found guilty of absenting himself from his unit without leave for more than a month.

According to the documents submitted, Barakhoev failed to report to his duty station at his military unit in Ingushetia on the required dates of October 21, 2024, and June 30, 2025. During this period, he was at his home address.

The court ruled that Bai-Ali Barakhoev was guilty of prolonged evasion of military service. As a result, he was sentenced to six years in a general regime penal colony.

The Nalchik Garrison Military Court has repeatedly handed down sentences with real prison terms for servicemen under Part 5 of Article 337 of the Criminal Code. Among those convicted, for example, is Algiz Valitov, who received a two-year sentence. Others include Ramazan Lukozhev, Ruslan Murzakayev, Timur Yandiev and Amerkhan Kurskiyev, Said Khizriev, and Alim Khuranov, each sentenced to five years, as well as Arsen Baev and Islam Teshev, sentenced to seven years.
