Georgia's ruling party, Georgian Dream, has prepared a package of amendments to the Administrative and Criminal Codes that will toughen penalties for illegal actions committed during assemblies and demonstrations. This was announced by the party's parliamentary leader, Irakli Kirtskhalia.
On September 24, in the Ukrainian city of Tokmak, Russian military police officers beat up three servicemen of the 3rd battalion of the 71st regiment, suspecting them of sexual acts with minors.
The incident became known from a video message from one of the beaten men - Arsen Temiraev, mobilized from Ossetia. The video with his story was published by a journalist from South Ossetia, Arzu Mamedova. According to Temiraev, he and his fellow soldiers were recovering from a wound near Rabotino, "sitting, talking", when several cars drove up to the house. Heavily armed soldiers with military police armbands came out from there, without explaining anything, laid them on the floor and began beating them with rifle butts on the head and body. One of the policemen fired a burst from a machine gun above their heads and several times pressed the red-hot barrel to Temiraev's back. On the way to the military commandant's office, the "vepeshnik" began asking the detainees what their nationality was. Having learned that there was a Kabardian and an Ossetian in front of him, he called them "churkas" and declared that "Russia is for Russians." "I thought that the Nazis were on the other side. It turns out that the Nazis are inside us...," Temiraev says in a video message. "I just don't know where to go next, who to eradicate. When things like this happen, you start to doubt everything." According to him, he almost died. The detainees were saved by their fellow countrymen - Ossetians and Chechens serving in the military commandant's office. Temiraev also said that the military police officers who detained them themselves "were engaged in extortion of money in Tokmak, raping women." Thanks to social networks, the head of North Ossetia, Sergei Menyailo, learned about the incident. "The soldier says that the day before in the city of Tokmak, military police burst into his home and that of two of his fellow soldiers. They beat them, humiliated them, and did not try to find out anything. The formal reason given was allegedly a statement by a certain woman, a local resident, who accused the guys of perversions towards her children. Our guys from the Storm. Ossetia and Alania battalions contacted the commanders on the ground. It turned out that the conflict between the servicemen of the 3rd battalion of the 71st regiment and the Military Police of the 70th regiment did indeed occur. Of course, I immediately contacted the leadership of the Southern Military District, and the commander of the 58th combined arms army was immediately informed about the incident. An investigation is currently underway. Each of the guilty parties will be punished!" Menyailo wrote on his Telegram channel and promised subscribers that he would keep them informed of the investigation. However, as of October 31, no news on this topic appeared on his channel.
However, on September 27, a new video message from Temiraev was published in Arzu Mamedova's Telegram channel, in which he reported that an investigation was underway, the culprits had been detained, and they turned out to be "impostors who had put on armbands and made fake IDs" of military police officers. The question of why the impostors took the detainees to the military commandant's office remained open.
