Musayeva Remains in Custody Until March 26
The Sheikh-Mansurovsky District Court of Grozny has extended the arrest of Zarema Musayeva until March 26, the "Team Against Torture" reported. The lawyers noted that Musayeva's prison term in the first criminal case expires on March 23.

According to lawyer Alexander Savin, the woman continues to have health problems due to diabetes. She was recently prescribed a new treatment for a leg joint, and has been using crutches for a long time.

According to investigators, Zarema Musayeva hit an FSIN officer who accompanied her on trips to the hospital and tore off his shoulder strap. The defendant denies all charges against her. In addition, she claims that given her health condition, she would not have been physically able to attack a security officer even if she had wanted to.

Zarema Musayeva is the wife of former federal judge Saidi Yangulbaev and the mother of Chechen activists Ibragim, Baysangur, and Abubakar Yangulbaev. In early March 2024, the Pyatigorsk Court of Cassation reduced her sentence on the previous charge, reducing her prison term from 5 years to 4 years and 9 months. In July 2023, a court in Grozny found the woman guilty of using violence against a police officer and fraud and sentenced her to five years in prison. Investigators believe that she scratched the face of a police officer from Chechnya during her transfer from Nizhny Novgorod to Grozny.
