A man convicted of calling for Chechens not to be sent to the "SVO" was released due to oncology
A writer and mathematics teacher Zakhar Zaripov, who suffered from cancer, was released from Pre-trial Detention Center No. 1 in Khabarovsk. Instead of five years in prison, he was sentenced to a fine of 350 thousand rubles. The release is related to the man's serious oncological disease - a tumor of the parotid salivary gland.

In April, an activist from Khabarovsk Krai, Zakhar Zaripov, was sentenced to five years in prison on charges of calling for terrorism. In fact, he addressed the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, on a social network with an appeal not to send his fellow countrymen to fight in Ukraine. In addition to this, he recalled how Chechnya tried to achieve its independence.

A linguistic examination found in the publication signs of "incitement to an armed seizure of power with the aim of violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation." Human rights project "Support for political prisoners. Memorial recognized Zaripov as a political prisoner.

"We believe that the man's actions do not constitute a crime, and the case against him was fabricated for political reasons as a tool to intimidate critics of the Russian authorities. The text, for which a criminal case was opened against him, does not pose a public danger," the human rights activists noted.
