Political prisoner-journalist from Crimea is being pressured in the penal colony

Crimean civil journalist Remzi Bekirov, serving a sentence in a penal colony in Khakassia, is being subjected to illegal pressure from the administration of the institution. This was reported by his lawyer Emil Kurbedinov.

According to the defense, since Bekirov was transferred from prison to IK No. 33 in the Republic of Khakassia, he has been regularly and unjustifiably placed in a punishment cell. In addition, the prisoner is deprived of the opportunity to write letters to his relatives and make phone calls. In this regard, human rights activists have called for written requests to the administration of the colony to conduct an investigation and ensure that Bekirov's rights are respected.

"The transfer of civilians from the occupied territory deep into the aggressor country is a war crime. Cruel treatment of civilians is another war crime. Colonel of the Internal Service Alexander Chizh is rapidly adding to his personal file in the Crimean folder of the International Tribunal. All three of his properties may soon go to pay for the lawyer’s services, because they are now seriously breaking in The Hague,” the human rights initiative “Tribunal. Crimean Episode” shared on its Telegram channel.
