The German ambassador to Georgia, who supports the country's European integration, has completed his mission

German Ambassador Peter Fischer has concluded his diplomatic mission in Georgia. He bid farewell to the country's people, expressing gratitude for the time they spent together in Tbilisi. He posted his farewell words on social media: "Thank you, be happy, Auf Wiedersehen!"

Since 2022, Fischer has served as ambassador, supporting Georgia's aspirations for European integration. This stance has repeatedly provoked negative reactions from the Georgian authorities, who have accused him of interfering in domestic affairs and supporting opposition forces.

Representatives of the ruling Georgian Dream party greeted the news of the end of the German ambassador's tenure with clear approval.

"Peter Fischer was a man who not only did nothing to develop relations, but, on the contrary, did everything to damage relations between Georgia and Germany. We hope that this will now change." "We have a strong desire to restore friendly relations with Germany," stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

The ambassador previously expressed the opinion that the Georgian leadership "does not want to join the EU, but cannot openly declare this to the people," and therefore, according to him, the authorities are using certain rhetoric to weaken public support for European integration.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry responded to the Israeli government's decision to recognize the 1915 Armenian genocide with a harsh statement. Ankara claims that the Israeli government, whose actions in the Gaza Strip are considered genocide against Palestinians by the International Court of Justice, is attempting to divert international attention from its own crimes through political decisions. The ministry emphasized its intention to continue the fight against Israel's "expansionist policies" and to ensure that the Netanyahu government "is held legally accountable for its crimes against the civilian population."
