Nikita Zhuravel, convicted of burning the Koran, is charged with treason
A student from Volgograd, Nikita Zhuravel, who was sentenced to 3.5 years on charges of burning the Koran, corresponded on Telegram with SBU officers and offered to cooperate with them. This was reported by the prosecutor's office. In March 2023, Zhuravel allegedly sent a video recording of a train carrying Russian military aircraft and equipment to an employee of the Ukrainian special service. In addition, it is reported that the young man transmitted information about the movement of a service vehicle of one of the military units.

The indictment in the Zhuravel case has been sent to court.

Recall that in February of this year, a court in Grozny sentenced 19-year-old Nikita Zhuravel to three and a half years in a general regime colony. He was found guilty of burning the Koran. This happened in May 2023 in Volgograd near the cathedral mosque. In Grozny, the young man was tried for publicly insulting the feelings of believers and hooliganism. In court, Zhuravel said that he burned the Koran on the orders of the SBU not because of any beliefs, but for the promise of a monetary reward. He admitted his guilt and apologized.

At the end of September 2023, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, published a video in which his 16-year-old son Adam beats Nikita Zhuravel in a pretrial detention center. After this, Kadyrov Jr. was awarded many state and republican awards and titles.
