According to NIYSO sources, security forces previously attempted to pressure Idris Tumgoev into cooperation by holding repeated conversations with him.
Idris Tumgoev is a respected preacher in Ingushetia, having received a degree in Sharia law (Islamic jurisprudence) from the Islamic University of Medina.
"Systematic disappearances of clergy who disagree with government policies continue in Ingushetia. "Previously, there were reports of the detentions of Abdur-Rashid Gardanov, Muhammad Tamaskhanov, Muhammad Sultygov, Nazir Dzeitov, and other religious figures," NIYSO noted.
