Contract soldier from Chechnya who deceived his colleagues was replaced with a suspended sentence

The Southern District Military Court replaced two years in a colony with a suspended sentence for a contract soldier from Chechnya Alexei Khan. In March, the Grozny court found him guilty of seven counts of fraud, but a higher court commuted the sentence due to the defendant's participation in the SVO.

The court in Grozny came to the conclusion that Aleksey Khan, using his official position, deceived seven colleagues, defrauding them of money. His defense disagreed with the decision. Admission of guilt and participation in the war with Ukraine were named as extenuating circumstances. As a result, the Court of Appeal sided with the contractor, replacing the real term with a suspended one.
