Opposition figure Gulu Mammadli stated that the arrest of Ali Karimli, leader of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), was expected, but the reasons go beyond simple criticism of the authorities. According to Mammadli, Karimli's publications in major Western media have increased his political significance and visibility abroad, which has caused concern among the Azerbaijani authorities.

Near the village of Ilaskhan-Yurt, a car was fired from an ambush in which the head of the administration of the Kurchaloevsky district, Makhal Tsagaraevich Taramov, was on his way to the city of Gudermes. He himself was not injured, but his deputy Shoip Lomaliev, a resident of the village of Geldagan, and the driver Salamon (Said-Khusain) Abdusalamov, a resident of the village of Kurchaloy, were injured.
The fire mainly hit a VAZ2106 car that was overtaking with five residents of the village of Tsentoroy. They were traveling from the regional hospital, where they were donating blood for the sick daughter-in-law of the head of the Chechen administration. Four of them - Suleiman Akhyadov, born in 1975, Gairbek Elembaev, born in 1973, Keri Edilov and Lechi Khozh-Akhmedovich Kadyrov, nephew of Akhmad Kadyrov - died. The fifth was hospitalized in serious condition. Apparently, those who were in the ambush thought that the “six” were accompanying the district leader, and since it was overtaking the second car, then he himself was in it.
Later, one of the participants in the attack went over to the side of the Russian authorities and actively fought against his former comrades. The relatives of the Tsentoroevites who were killed then knew that he participated in that attack, but they were not going to take revenge on him. He died in the village of Avtury during a military clash with members of the VF of the ChRI.

After 3.20, masked Russian soldiers carried out a robbery attack on residents of Vinogradnaya Street in the village of Staraya Sunzha. Breaking into houses, they insulted the owners, beat them, and damaged their property.
For example, they entered the house of Isa Movladievich Eltuev, born in 1961, who lives in house 26, after they had forcefully knocked down the gate and fired at the windows. The owner's wife came out to meet them. The military put a machine gun to her head, swearing and threatening, and demanded money and gold.
Ziyaudi Makhmudovich Yansuev, born in 1957, living on the same street at house 22, was also beaten. They also demanded money and jewelry from him. To make the owner more accommodating, the military dragged his sister, 50-year-old Ruman, behind the barn and simulated execution. As a result, they managed to take all the money (pensions and child benefits) and gold jewelry.
The Munaevs, as well as five other Starosunzhensky families, were robbed in the same way.
In the morning a spontaneous rally began in the village. Residents blamed the Russian military for the incident and demanded that the command and authorities of the republic protect them from violence. The victims filed complaints with the prosecutor's office.
