Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has commented on Armenia’s plans to begin preparing an application to join the European Union, saying Yerevan would ultimately fail to secure EU membership but could seriously damage its relations with Russia and other members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The court in the Stavropol region sentenced four more people involved in the criminal case of the pogrom at Makhachkala airport to 8 to 10 years in prison. Rajab Mutaev, Magomed Magomedbekov, Shamil Mugutdinov and Murtazali Murtazaliyev were found guilty of violating traffic safety requirements and participating in mass riots accompanied by violence.
Earlier, more than forty persons involved in the case were found guilty. They were sentenced to long prison terms. The investigator stated that 142 people were involved in the crimes. In relation to 135 defendants, the preliminary investigation was completed.
As a reminder, on October 29, 2023, hundreds of people broke into the Makhachkala airport, trying to find passengers of a transit flight from Tel Aviv. Those gathered spoke against Israel's actions in Palestine. According to the prosecutor's office, more than 20 police officers were injured, and the material damage to the airport exceeded 24 million rubles.
