Berlin has recalled its ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, for consultations. The decision, made by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadepoel, is intended to determine how to proceed, the ministry announced.

Murad Shuaibov was found dead in Karelian correctional colony No. 7 in Segezha. In 2019, he was sentenced to 23 years on charges of murdering the founder of the Dagestan newspaper Chernovik, Khadzhimurad Kamalov.
As lawyer Timur Shcheblykin noted, Shuaibov had no prerequisites for suicide. Previously, he was in IK-9 of Petrozavodsk in a detachment with strict conditions for serving his sentence.
The administration insisted that he ask to be transferred to a cell-type room, but he refused. However, the next day after the lawyer’s visit, the prisoner wrote a statement about voluntary placement in a single cell-type room in IK-7 in Segezha, was transferred there and died two days later.
On December 15, 2011, the founder of the Chernovik newspaper, Khadzhimurad Kamalov, was killed. He was shot in Makhachkala on the threshold of the editorial office, when he went out into the street and was about to get into a taxi.
In 2022, the Southern District Military Court handed down a verdict. Former Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan Shamil Isaev, who is believed to have ordered the crime, received 16 years in prison, the alleged perpetrators Murad Shuaibov, Magomed Khazamov and Magomed Abigasanov received 23 years, 24 years and 16 years, respectively. The investigation considered that Shamil Isaev decided to kill Khadzhimurad Kamalov because he was preventing him from making a political career with his publications.
The brother of the deceased, Magdi Kamalov, is convinced that everyone except Abigasanov has nothing to do with the murder. The latter was the only one of the accused who knew Khadzhimurad by sight and was present at his place of work on the fateful day. In addition, defense witnesses reported alibis for the alleged perpetrators.
