One of the leaders of the Azerbaijani opposition was arrested for four months

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Democracy and Prosperity Party Gubad Ibadoglu was arrested for three months and 26 days. He is accused of counterfeiting money - during the searches, counterfeit dollar bills were allegedly found on him.
US authorities said they were closely monitoring Gubad Ibadoglu's arrest. "The United States remains firmly committed to advancing respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms," said State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
According to experts, the arrest of Gubad Ibadoglu was not unexpected, given his harsh criticism of the Azerbaijani authorities, especially in relation to human rights violations and corruption.
