Footage from the murder scene of two Dagestani residents accused of planning acts of sabotage has been released

The FSB's Public Relations Center has released a video of the murder scene of two Dagestani residents in the Karabudakhkent district.

Yesterday, security forces reported that the two "militants" were planning attacks on a railway station and a religious site, "but were killed while attempting to resist arrest."
The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under articles of the Criminal Code for attempted murder of law enforcement officers and illegal arms trafficking.

According to the FSB, the men killed during their arrest were members of an "international terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation" and were planning "acts of sabotage and terrorism."

"Firearms, ammunition, and an improvised explosive device were found at the scene, which was defused by bomb disposal experts. Extremist literature and symbols of the terrorist organization, confirming their criminal intent, were confiscated from the residences of these individuals,” the department’s press service reported.

World Press Freedom Index 2026: Things Have Worse in the South Caucasus and Russia
30 April 2026

The 2026 World Press Freedom Index, published this morning by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), records the worst deterioration in global media freedom in 25 years. More than half of the world's countries rank the situation as "challenging" or "very challenging," and the average index level has never been lower. A key trend is increasing legal pressure on the media: of the five indicators used to assess press freedom worldwide (economy, law, security, politics, culture, and society), the "law" indicator showed the most significant decline.
