A convicted native of Ingushetia filed claims for refusal to provide medical care and a ban on prayers

A native of Ingushetia, Vakha Tsurov filed more than 20 lawsuits against the correctional institutions where he served his sentence since 2012. In particular, he demanded compensation in the amount of 100 thousand rubles because the administration of the Karelian colony imposed disciplinary sanctions on him for performing namaz.

In addition, in 2018, Tsurov complained about the lack of medical care. In his lawsuit, he stated that he was discriminated against as a Muslim and, as a sign of protest, he inflicted wounds on himself. The prisoner also filed lawsuits because the guards forcibly cut his hair, and after being placed in a punishment cell, he was not given religious literature.

It is noteworthy that the courts satisfied some of the claims.
