The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Artur Sargsyan, Armenia's acting chargé d'affaires, to deliver an official statement protesting the "unfriendly steps" of the Armenian side. The basis for this action was statements by Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan, who asserted that his country "should not become a province and be governed like Belarus."
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced his readiness to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan by the end of 2023. He announced this at a meeting in the European Parliament.
However, according to the prime minister, the President of Azerbaijan, contrary to his obligations, has still not declared recognition of the territorial integrity of Armenia. In addition, Pashinyan said that due to the inaction of Russian peacekeepers, more than 100 thousand Armenians were forced to leave Karabakh in less than a week after the entry of Azerbaijani troops there.
The Armenian leader also recalled the “high dynamics” of relations between Yerevan and the European Union, noting that democracy is the strategic choice of Armenia. Thanks to the EU civilian mission monitoring the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, contacts with it provide Armenia with greater security.
Yerevan recently ratified the Rome Statute, which indicates an interest in stimulating and developing the international legal order.
