In Crimea, police officers issued human rights activist Abdureshit Dzhepparov a warning against violating the law. Law enforcement officials explained the document's origins in connection with the upcoming holiday on May 9th, but such actions typically occur shortly before the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar People (May 18th).
Some steps by Azerbaijan create the impression that the country is preparing for new military operations against Armenia. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Yerevan.
“Azerbaijan never publicly mentions the key principles for normalizing relations with Armenia agreed upon through EU mediation; this exacerbates the atmosphere of mistrust. In addition, in Baku, at the state level, they began to call Armenia Western Azerbaijan, and this term was even included in the school curriculum. Baku refuses to return Armenian prisoners,” Pashinyan said.
He also noted that there is a dialogue with Turkey, but so far there has been no diplomatic success. Pashinyan called the issue of normalizing relations with Turkey important for Armenia.
