Kidnapped Chechen resident to be tried on terrorism charges
26-year-old Chechen resident Ramzan Ismailov is accused of recruiting for participation in a terrorist organization or providing assistance to militants, including financing terrorism. He could have been kidnapped by security forces earlier.

The first hearing of the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don on this case is scheduled for March 5. The man faces up to 15 years in prison.

In 2024, activists of the Chechen opposition movement NIYSO reported that security forces kidnapped Ramzan Ismailov in the village of Khidi-Khutor.

“He is 26 years old, and he is an ordinary village guy who worked as a forklift and tried to feed his family. However, the employees of the Kurchaloevsky District Department of Internal Affairs, apparently, really wanted to make another result,” the movement’s Telegram channel said.
