Crimean Tatar Eskender Abdulganiev, after being transferred from a Vladimir prison to colony No. 41 in the Kemerovo region, was immediately put in a punishment cell. The reasons for tightening the conditions of detention were not announced to him.

Those in the punishment cell are not allowed to see their relatives or receive parcels; they also cannot see a doctor. The maximum placement time is 15 days, but many prisoners remain there for months.

In November 2020, Eskender Abdulganiev was sentenced to 12 years in prison, the first three years he had to spend in prison. He was found guilty of the activities of the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in Russia. In Ukraine and many other countries of the world, it operates without restrictions at the level of national legislation.
