The Crimean Tatar political prisoner was again placed in strict detention conditions

Crimean Tatar human rights activist Server Mustafayev was transferred to strict conditions of detention in a colony in the Tambov region. He was also registered as “prone to terrorism and extremism.” Due to changes in detention conditions, the man cannot continue his studies at the Faculty of Law, but continues to help his cellmates as a human rights activist.

Previously, the court rejected Server Mustafayev’s appeal against the decision on the claim for violation of his rights. They took away his Koran, his medicines, and did not allow him to speak the Crimean Tatar language during calls with his family. He was also repeatedly put in a punishment cell.

Server Mustafaev is the coordinator of the public association “Crimean Solidarity”, which provides legal, informational and social assistance to the families of political prisoners in Crimea. In 2020, the Southern District Military Court sentenced him to 14 years in prison on charges of participation in the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir. It is prohibited in the Russian Federation, but operates freely in Ukraine and most countries of the world.
