Crimean Tatar political prisoner complains of a sharp deterioration in health

Rustem Emiruseinov, sentenced to 17 years, suffers from diabetes and complications caused by it.

In IK-6 in the Tver region, Emiruseinov developed skin diseases that are aggravated by diabetes, as reported by his wife, Aliye Emiruseinova. According to her, even minor skin damage takes a long time to heal and becomes inflamed.

The Crimean Tatar's health problems began during his stay in the Balashov prison, where he complained of itching in his legs and sudden weight loss. His vision also deteriorated significantly, and he was subsequently diagnosed with diabetes.

In 2020, Emiruseinov was found guilty of organizing the activities of a terrorist organization and sentenced to 17 years in prison. He was charged with membership in the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned in Russia but operates legally in most countries. According to the case file, the accused did not have weapons, did not plan to commit a terrorist act, and did not call on others to commit terrorist acts.
